Comment by Grinning Cat on March 4, 2020 at 10:42am As I was looking for something else, I found Joan Denoo’s comment a few years ago about inspiring non-theistic songs for kids (and older folks), and thought it’s worth sharing again, especially the videos of Monty Harper’s songs:
I asked on the Humanist site for some non-theistic music and here are the suggestions so far:
Terry Groff, thanks for “Imagine!”
mojo5501 “We are all Made of Stars” by Moby, thanks.
GBM Harper, Thanks for “Imagine”, “Roundy Round” and FlyingSpaghettiMusic.com.
I think we can do better than Tim Hawkins’ offerings. I love “Imagine”
Oh! I like these for children. they don’t put down religions, it affirms dreams, imagination and exploration

Comment by Tom Sarbeck on August 24, 2019 at 7:07pm Who hasn’t met people who lack social skills?
Among the terms we use are geeks, loners, nerds, social retards. They probably associated with others less, perhaps due to shyness or because they liked other activities more.
In 9th and 10th grades I was in a boys-only school with about 2000 students and had a lot of choices. In 11th and 12th grades I was in a school with about 60 boys who talked about cars and sports. I liked science and did a lot of reading.
Comment by Andrea Quinn on August 24, 2019 at 4:46pm I read another study that show social skills suffer from too much screen time.
Comment by Chris on December 5, 2018 at 11:56pm One of the best stories I heard which was from some commedian is that he had a young girl that he wanted to make into a tomboy.
Obviously he was a single parent (I hate that term – maybe a father raising his dauthter absent the mother – without any support) – anyway he purchased his daughter three trucks with as a christmas, or some other set of presents.
He said he watched his daugher play with the trucks. To his amasement his daughter played with the trucks.
As she drove them up to him she said “This is the Daddy truck” as she pushed one towards him,
“This is the Mommy truck”,as she pushed another towards him, last of course not least she said
“This is the Baby truck.”
Comment by Chris on December 5, 2018 at 11:44pm Some may not know that at in the late 1800-early 1900’s that pink was the designated color for boys.
Many may not also know during that time period and before all youngsters and toddlers wore dresses – probably to make cleaning them easy. In humor – wash them off with a hose after they deficate.

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on January 25, 2017 at 12:41pm Interesting baby feeding story and pic, thanks Joan.

Comment by Grinning Cat on August 19, 2015 at 10:26pm You’re right, “embiggen” is a perfectly cromulent word.
Comment by Idaho Spud on August 18, 2015 at 12:21pm Grin, I’m OK with either word, but I wonder why you’ve stopped using the work embiggen.
