My name is Michael Phelps & I am the host of Think Free Nation on Atheist Analysis.

I am messaging you is to see if you have any contacts for any atheist groups that are around Greenville, North Carolina. We have a volunteer on our staff who had a young teen run out in front of her car last week and the young teen is in serious condition. His mother has health issues and nether of them have health insurance. He is on life support right now.

What I was hoping was to mobilize an effort to share their go fund me page with everyone as well as if they people locally that wanted to help with food or transportation, that if there were people in the area they would be able to help out. I live in Michigan so I can not take her anything unfortunately.

The mother also wants to be with her son and is not able to since he is in that serious condition. She has serious health issues herself that the Ronald McDonald House can not provide for her. She is also a vegetarian, I would love to organize something to get her food she can eat as well.

I was on The Thinking Atheist last night. We really got into things like how to talk to your children about sex and the bogus notion of sex or porn addiction. If you or someone you know, believes in sex addiction, listen here. It is only a figment of the Christian imagination and their sex crazed guilt.

I joined OK Cupid a year and a half ago. I described myself and a beer drinking Buddha influenced (not Buddhist influenced) existentialist social nihilist atheist vegetarian with no armpit hair (true) that hasn’t watched TV in years. I explained that I named my 3 identical kittens all Sir Charles Cyrus Cuddlemonkey so I could tell them apart, as an example of how I wasn’t crazy. It was just your basic schizotypal rant. The point was to repel anyone that couldn’t read between the lines. It turned out that was everyone. For 4 months nothing, and then, came the girl of my dreams. We’ve been together for over a year now. Anyway, my theory was to expose myself, the good, the bad, the what I like to call unusual (don’t like the connotations of GF’s professional medical opinion) and let things fall where they may. You have to make YOU attractive to someone, not your profile. The fewer people that are attracted, the better the odds that you find someone that’s right.

I guess when it comes down to it im not trying to attract someone who will just skim what they are reading and generally will look at a word and think “I don’t know what that means oh well” but you are right Joseph if i was trying to attract the average person i would deffinitly use what you’ve told me but because im very different from alot of people im not trying to find the average person.

Jeffrey your close :p, “I presume you are hoping to find someone who not only agrees with your philosophy” I wouldn’t say who agrees with me but who has the same way of approching something when trying to understand something but of course because we as humans are flawed even in non-opinion based arguments we both are still going to be arguing about stuff. Of course im not trying to find a female version carbon copy of myself, although if i did it wouldn’t be a bad thing, because what is important to me is not what she likes but rather what she does when she likes something, it isn’t important that she has the same interest as me but why is she interested in the things she is interested in and what she does with those interest. So i guess what im trying to say is what I find that is important is not what the actions of someone are but why they choose those actions to begin with. Now in this comment im having a little trouble articulating what i want to say so I guess if you don’t understand what i mean i don’t blame you :p just ask a question that might clear it up lol

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you want precision, you need to break it down and explain how you think, in simple, clear, descriptive sentences. Any list more than 3 or 4 items long isn’t going to do the job you intend it to.

Don’t list the 3 types of nihilism to which you subscribe, mixed in with a bunch of other items. Describe what the three types of nihilism say about your worldview. Be a little more verbose, and give an example, funny if possible.

Someone’s only going to analyze you in depth after they’re already interested enough to give you more than a glance. What you’re trying to do here is garner that kind of interest.

Heh.

#1, you wrote the list. You’re not looking at it with the same eyes as everyone else.

#2, people don’t read lists like that in detail. They skim. If you want people to absorb lists of characteristics, you have to put them in narrative form.

Moral Nihilist, Mereological Nihilist, Existential Nihilist …

All I got from that, when I first read it, was that you’re some sort of nihilist. When you stack things up like that, they all start to blur together.

Plus, I already knew what reductionism is, but most people don’t. You need to compromise between precision of vocabulary and using words that most people have an immediate grasp of. In writing, you can rely on context helping your readers understand words they don’t have a precise grasp of. In list-making, there’s no context.
