'Serving soldier' dead in Woolwich machete attack.

A man believed to be a soldier is dead after a politically motivated knife attack by two men, who were shot by police. An eyewitness said it was a "message to the British government".

An eyewitness who got off a bus just as the incident happened told how as he filmed the incident, one of the assailants approached.

The man was carrying a machete and a gun in Woolwich, south east London.

The eyewitness said that he gave the gun to his friend, and said: "I just want to talk to you with your camera". He went on to say they had carried out the attack "because David Cameron, (the) British government sent troops in Arabic country".

"They wanted to give a message to the British government," the witness said. "That's what they say to me when they were talking to my camera."

He said he was surprised that they did not try to make a quick escape: "They do this publicly to give it some message... They didn't go anywhere. Most of the time, when you see the crime, the person starts running becasue they dont want to be arrested."

He also described how as the attack on John Wilson Street happened, two women shouted "stop it, stop it", and the attackers apologised, saying women shouldn't be allowed to see what was happening - only men.

Radical preacher Hamza lands in US

Radical Islamist cleric, Abu Hamza, arrived in New York on Saturday where he is expected to appear in a US court on terrorism charges within 24 hours.

Hamza was deported from the UK along with four other suspects following an eight year legal battle which strained the country’s relationship with the European court of human rights.

The hate preacher faces 11 charges in the US related to hostage taking, conspiracy to establish a militant training camp and calling for a holy war in Afghanistan.

US State Department spokesman Mark Toner welcomed the move: “This ends a period of lengthy litigation through UK courts as well as the European court of human rights and also speaks of the strength of the law enforcement relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”

The five suspects left a military airbase in Suffolk in two planes just hours after their final appeals were turned down. Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled al-Fawwaz joined Hamza in New York.

While Babar Ahmad and Tahla Ahsan, were flown to Connecticut where they face charges of running a pro-Jihad website.
