Comment by Frank Pruiksma on July 24, 2012 at 12:21am Theists think differently from Atheists. Theists use shortcuts ae d social patterns to think this is
the typical way most brains work. Atheists tend to be more left brained. They think through shit before acting on it. Scientific American did a study showing that if you slowed down a theist so he or she had to think before acting. They where less likely to believe in Gods, religion, etc. Its clash of the thinking modes.
Comment by Pat on July 23, 2012 at 2:59pm Seth. I want to sincerely thank you for posting this. This very thing happened to me this weekend in a restaurant. A friend was asking about my atheism, in a positive way. He really wanted to know, and was asking pertinent questions and listening to my answers, followed up by more pertinent questions. Another person at the table become completely upset with the conversation, and she became verbally aggressive and exhibited the very anti-social behavior related here. I was about ready to blow up, but instead kept my tongue. Even after I had calmed down (over a couple of days), I kept thinking that the next time I saw her, I'd give her a piece of mind. I now have better understanding of why she did what she did. When I bring it up, I'm obviously going to change my tact, and demeanor, to a more rational approach than my emotions first dictated based on this. Thanks again. Ain't larnin' a wonerful thang?
