Nepali women segregated during menstruation

Government banned the use of menstrual sheds in 2005, but 90 percent of villagers still abide by the tradition.

Women's rights groups in Nepal are fighting an uphill battle against discrimination.

In many remote areas menstruating women are segregated every month, kept in sheds that are often dangerous. The government banned the practice in 2005, but many women, particularly in villages, continue to be separated from other people.
