I would say he was intellectually aggressive in his stance towards the religious. Most atheists are not. I don't engage them either.

Based on what he says, he is not a militant Atheist because is not prepared to take aggressive action in support of any cause. As he says, he is wrongly labelled.
I've never had a religious person knock on my door. If it happened I wouldn't open the door.
