Kirk Cameron offers free copies of "Origin of Species"!

Sullied, of course, by a 50 page "introduction" full of shrill polemical drivel that will have nothing to do with the actual content of the book itself! To be given away - free, on the top 50 campuses in the country! May be the top 100 campuses... won't you help?

Yes - I'm glad to see them backtracking from the initial video, but lets see if Comfort actually keeps this promise to be truly "fair"!

From the website Living Waters about the book:

In November of 2009, we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species, by giving away 100,000 copies of the book (304-pages) at 100 top U.S. universities.
-This will be the entire publication. Nothing has been removed from Darwin's original work.
-As usual with reprints of this book (there have been over 140 reprints), there will be an Introduction.
-My name will be on the cover (for those who think that we are being deceptive).
-Thanks to good advice from Atheists on my blog (and from others), the 50-page Introduction will address Darwin's "racism"--and reveal how he was truly a gentle-man who was adamantly against slavery.
-It will also qualify his apparent degeneration of women, and the fact that his moral character is irrelevant to the Theory of Evolution, just as the Theory of Relativity should stand on its own merits, and not on the morality of Albert Einstein.
-I will also make it clear that Hitler's attraction to the theory is also irrelevant to whether or not it's true. I want this Introduction to be fair-minded, free from prejudice against Darwin, with no straw men or quote-mining.
-“A fair result can be obtained only by fully stating and balancing the facts and arguments on both sides of each question.” -- Charles Darwin, Introduction to On the Origins of Species (1859)

Well, Skeptical Deb, UCSD is on the list of the 50 schools where they plan to distribute these special editions. So you could pick up a copy there, I'm sure! :-)

I was trying to find where the books were going to be distributed. I found that you can buy your own copy at: http://www.livingwaters.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&...

Now, I am not at all encouraging us financially supporting "living water" or Kirk, however, I am interested in securing a copy of this uniques edition for my personal collection. Darwin's legacy is one of the greatest in the modern world. I would love to have actual proof of how his insights and scholarship were maligned...even in the year 2009 by Christians!
