Dresden anti-fascist protesters block neo-Nazi march

More than 13,000 protesters in Dresden, Germany formed a human chain to block a neo-Nazi rally on February 13.

One man explained why he came out in sub-zero temperatures to take part: "I think it's important to support my city and show that there's no place for extremists."

Another anti-Nazi protester said: "I'm here in memory of war victims and to take a stand against racism."

More than 3,000 police from across Germany were called to Dresden to ensure the parallel protests did not escalate into violent clashes.

Authorities said the night was mostly peaceful - although two officers were injured by masked demonstrators and several people were arrested.
