Israel is a line in the sand, it's where civilizations meets barbarism. On one side you have female genital mutilation, child brides, rampant corruption, suicide bombers, polygamy, veils, and on the other side you have a pluricultural democracy, home to every persecuted minority in the Middle East like Armenians, Druze, Circassians, Baha'is and of course the Jews. Israel is the modern day Thermopylae. Now if Israeli politicians would just ban religious parties and get rid of illegal settlers in the West Bank, maybe the world would stop blaming it for the violence there, it would do well to become an even more secular state.
