My wife was a lifelong church musician, and has played at funerals, weddings, etc. for most denominations, and we (I often went with her) never had any problem with anyone questioning our beliefs or affiliation. It's usually not an issue, since the rule of thumb is that funerals bring out a lot of old family issues, that leave people little time to show interest in anything else. Unless you're familiar with the ritual, it may be best to skip communion. Other people will just assume you're a protestant.
