Isaac, there is a book "Mississippi The Closed Society," it can explain alot. Pearl is mostly white lower-middle income families. You ain't gonna get any sympathy from most of them towards secular/atheists beliefs. If you have family, they can suffer the most if you are an activist. Take care and perhaps we will meet soon.

Not believing in an afterlife does not mean i am a "sad' person.

I work in healthcare in a long term care facility and I deal with death on a regular basis. About a year ago the opportunity arose for me to take a palliative care course through my work.  I enjoyed it for the most part.
