Greetings, Linda! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since March 31st. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

I am ladyblue999 on Ravelry. I just found out about the atheist group on Ravelry yesterday. I will be joining today.

Hi Linda, thanks for the friend invite. I enjoyed your profile info. I LOVE your pictures. I find it difficult to be "nice" about religion anymore. If it walks like a duck............M aybe it's part of getting older. I want to help make the world a better place. And if I can do anything to make it easier for someone to say out loud they are an atheist I will do it. I have and the planet didn't stop spinning. What part of Ks are you in? No. I was a med aid and the DON "Director of Nursing" has an inoperable brain tumor. She loves the flavor of Catholicism. I worked at a nursing home and she got rid of me because of my non belief. She read in the paper and determined I could not have morals without a belief in God... Even a Jewish or Hindu god would be ok. Sucks but it does happen. Luckily we have a pretty center/left newspaper here. The Wichita Eagle, like most media promotes rational thought and liberal ideals. That is the point. Get people thinking for them selves. Clearly I wrote an article that pissed off my boss and she fired me for it. I dont have to be able to prove it even though she informed me that without blind faith a sole is nothing. How stupid these people take us for.

Cool nice to have a friend here. Looks like your area code puts you in northeastern Kansas. I am just now designing my page.

Hi Linda! Nice to hear from you again. There is an atheist meetup group in Wichita that tries to meet twice a month. The next meetup is at Il Vicino at 7p.m. on July 5th. They will have a small table sign indicating who they are. It is a very small eclectic group and you can find out more about them at www.wichitaatheists.com or on meetup.com. I seem to never be able to go to the meetings.

Wichita has also just started a chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. They had the first meeting at the Andover Public Library on Wednesday. If you want more info on them, just let me know and I will forward your e-mail to the group! -Peg
