Comment appreciated. I suppose "great" is a relative term.

I am definitely not content at the moment but moving takes a lot of motivation which I don't have.

And yes, formation of axioms must also admit of reason. Axioms obtained from indoctrination are morally nil. I agree entirely. Glen, my philosophical older brother, thank you for the helpful critiques.

I suspect that my last post serves no purpose. I was curious about other people's definitions, but I am not a moral relativist. The post smacks too much of relativism. It's going on the rubbish pile.

For years I bundled up to go jogging. Only recently have I decided "This is nuts!" Besides, I have "chilblained toes" which hurts if I spend too much time in the cold. I get outdoors enough as it is. Thanks for the comment.

Brian Cox's "Wonders of the Universe," both the dvd and the book, are stunningly beautiful. Highly recommended.

Regarding bang and transition, I would forward that question to Roger Penrose's "Road to Reality". If you survive that mammoth tome, assuming that you have comprehended what you have read, you will have acquired the requisite knowledge for a PhD in physics. The next step would be to create a universe in a jar to experiment with and see what conditions are required for stability. Make sure to feed and water it twice a day and play some J. S. Bach to nurture its intellectual growth.

I agree that spending lots of time on scripture and the question of creation/god is a waste of time.  More time, if any, should be spent on its consequences and on the positive alternatives.  Would love to see a documentary of such.  I rarely ever allow anyone to trap me into an argument about god/religion, because it is as ridiculous as arguing about fairies or about American Idol or Survivor.

What I'd most like to see out of atheists is more of a PRO-active view of life.  Because there are so many liberal atheists, they often have a hope-y, wish-y, wanna-illusion-of-Utopia view of life.  Being idealist is only good up to a point.  We can change reality, but only up to a point.  Getting over the wish for Utopia is a hangover from religion.  We all suffer from it, but few acknowledge it.

LOL!! Thank you so much Glen. Type it up and hold onto it! The book won't be on the market for another 2 weeks. But I truly appreciate your enthusiasm and support. A girl can never get enough men beside her lending their strength. :)

Hi there! It was a number of things, really. Since I was brought up in (what I view now as) a high-conrol cult, I never really did any thinking for myself. I just accepted what I was told for most of my life. I started to develop doubts about my beliefs and discovered the internet. I spent a long time doing research specifically about my own religion, which I discovered to be anything but the truth, and soon moved on to researching evolution and atheism.

I now study Biology at university :)
