Thank you De Mush for helping spread freethought throughout the Caribbean. I try doing a book looking at the Rastaferian movement. You can check it out. Pick up a copy and let me know what you think. http://beyondrastafari.blogspot.com/
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Glad to know that you are enjoying the blogs. It is a pleasure to write and it gives me the inspiration to continue when I know people like yourself are reading. It is a plleasure to be your friend as well.
I reallly hope that we can make some inroads into the holld that religion has on our islands. I saw on your profile that you are from St. Kitts originally. What was the environment like there as far as religion was concerned? How did you break free to become an atheist ?I was actually in St. Kitts earlier this year while I was doing my Caribbean renewable energy research. A very lovely island.
Looking forward to hearing more of your story and keep up the fight! It will make a difference in the end.
Greetings, Dr. Mush Peets! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since April. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
My Auntie is from an Island in the Caribbean, but I can't for the life of me remember which one. I do remember that it's not Jamaica or Guadeloupe. She immigrated with her family when she was a girl to the UK, and met and married my Uncle and had two kids. Thanks for your luck! Alice :)
The Skeptic Hour is a radio show dedicated to helping people begin to think critically about everything. From birth we are filled with the ideas of our households and surrounding communities. Most of us never make it to the point questioning, because we are taught not to; but a few of us at some point in our lives have either a crisis of faith or something dramatic that happens in our lives that shakes the very foundation our unquestionable ideas rest on, and we suddenly start to see cracks and gaps in our way of thinking. We look through those cracks and begin to see things that were once hidden. Fear causes us to deny what we are learning, but as we continue to peak through the cracks, the fear slowly leaves, and before we know it, we've become freethinkers.

thanks man, along with the bad there is so much good. I respect the culture and try not to force my beliefs upon anyone. The man who does my welding tells me that he prays for me everyday, I just politely thank him.
My belief set has taken a lifetime to crystallize and I am confident that I have chosen the rihgt path and it is reassuring to be among people who share their intelligence and respect. big up from the VI
You are welcome to come and join Atheists for Israel and Palestine (AIPs) as a group whobelieve in a two-state solution to resolve the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We believe that Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish-majority state, and Palestine as an Arab-majority state. We would value your input on the subject.
There are a spec of Zionists who reside in Israel compared with millions of Muslims with Jihadist tendencies who want to kill, suicide bombers who kill for a cause. Zionists just belief, albeit delusionally that God gave them certain land. But they don't go killing for it like suicide bombers do. It's not all black and white, some ARE worse than others especially when they kill wholescale and on an international level for a cause they believe in. Apartheid was racism, and has nothing to do with religion, so that deserves another platform, is a totally different subject that took place before 1994 before Mandela was freed. We now have a Human Rights constitution against racism. You are getting confused between the two I think.
I was starting to worry that the whole lot were...robots.
Not to be rude regarding my other 'welcomes' to this fine Hub. But by comparison, your welcome seemed to have floated right off a summer-kissed breeze...refreshing and 'welcomed'.
Salute,
Distant Music "person" --- of the female persuasion :o)

Dr. Mush Peets,
I think you are right. It is painful for me to see people embrace the religion of their oppressors. It would be like me endorsing nazi ideology.
As long as she can cook oxtail for me I will grin and bear it.
