Greetings, vjack! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. You might feel more at home.
I know what you mean about listening to everything, most real musicians & people that appreciate art and creativity do!
It kinda reminds me of my 2nd favorite Chuck Schuldiner's quote :
"I miss the days when it was acceptable to listen to anything."
BTW, you ever heard of the group "How To Destroy Angels"? It's Trent from Nine Inch Nails and his wife on vocals. They have an EP out,it's pretty damn good!
Hi vjack,
I am happy to know you as a friend. In North Mississippi ( Marshall County) where I live I know absolutely no one who is not rabid right wing.
Hey dude. Thanks for the add. I was going to comment the other day on your site but I lost my account, and I'm too lazy to make a new one. You should have an option to leave comments more easily, no?
Hi vjack! As well as hosting the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.
I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.
Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.
Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.
Love your sticker... I've had the plaque on my front door for years. doesn't always stop them from knocking. I knew they were not well educated but figured they could read pictures.
I don't think I've met another atheist at my school yet (of course, I'm sure some of them are closeted), though I've heard of some (phrasing it like that makes it seem like we are a rare and endangered species...).
Christmas will be interesting...for the time being I'm celebrating the chilled season with chilled drinks with friends. :D How goes it with you?
It'll be interesting later on when I actually encounter the family. Going to be fun denying my mother. "Want to go to midnight mass like we used to every year when you were a little girl? Nostalgic?" "Er...no, i'm good." "Really? Sure? Just offering...never know how many opportunities you'll get."
Merry Christmas. -_-

I see you have another Don e-mailing you so I'll be the coast Don. We spend summers in Ohio so we will be back soon. I would say MS needs all the atheists it can get but we also are in the bible belt in NE Ohio. Keep up the good work!!

Your blog's not too bad either. :)
I just posted a new discussion about grief and religious family. Any input that you might have on the subject would be very much appreciated. :(
