I even wrote a standup comedy segment comparing 1984 to the current Republican media strategy. I just realized, when I was most of the way done with it, that I had spent too much time trying to bring people up to speed on the themes of 1984 and not enough time being funny. You can't overestimate the literacy and intelligence of your audience.

Well, that and the segment was more scary than funny, anyway.
