Kity, you asked as to progress. Here, it is. Most if not all are victims of their upbringing coupled with the evolutionary "belief" factor that a child has to listen and believe what this big authority figure tells you. That was fine when it involved the transmission of practical survival knowledge liks tiger kills, tiger bad. Those that accepted this survived to pass on the "belief gene" which has been usurped by both those in power (religious and secular) over time. Also the concept on animism helped to explain natural phenomenon in terms of the supernatural. Now initial indoctrination in the religion/belief structure of the parent coupled with intuitive thinking condems the child to a life long belief structure or struggle as he/she is educated in the "natural sciences" Lack of understanding of the scientific method, critical thinking and E-prime also contributes.

Given the financial interests of a few here in the US with regards to religion/propagating a belief in God it will be some time before naturalism becomes the accepted de-facto standard.

Hope that helps.

Maurice

Hi Kitty,,you sent me birthday wishes in july..I haven't been on this website for a while..I read your blog and I agree agree agree..I just lost a christian friend due to a funny (least we thought it was)a christmas/boxing day letter we sent with christmas cards..Christian ignorance is what is scary..They believe so blindly and if you would even dare begin to talk to them is its the one subject a rational person will be irrational about..My fiance' and I drove to austin tx yesterday from chicago..We are going to the atheist experience and hope to meet matt dillahunty and the group!!! I am excited!!! Happy New Year!!

Hi Kitty, Thanks for recommending the pharmacratic-inquisition. Don't all atheists know that Jesus is a mythical creation and not a historical figure? I didn't like the pharmacratic-inquisition video as much as Zeitgeist. I did watch the addendum of Zeitgeist.

Why is the name of the film you recommended called the pharmacratic-inquisition? Is it because parmacia (Medicine) is based on biblical prophesy? It seems to me that most doctors are stuck in the era of the black plague (year 1350 ACE). If they were trained more in Science rather than soul they would be better doctors.

I know originally that doctors had to first be good members of the church, but the reformation should have changed that. Apparently that hasn’t happened in medicine though. If medicine would move beyond healing the soul into healing the cells doctors would be better adept at healing illness. As it stands doctors still have an underlying belief that illness is caused by sin. Perhaps eastern doctors are better because they don’t have Christian belief holding them back, but they still have Buddhism, which is just as unhealthy because of the Buddhist belief in reincarnation.

We only have one life to live and we have to make the best of it.

So happy to be here, Praise Sweet Baby Jesus!! I have known about this site for some time, but was so busy building websites and working hard for our American Military that I had to be "gently" (read as: YOU BETTER JOIN!!" by Atheist Mommy. LOL, I will be advertising atheist nexus on my www.jesuschristarcade.com very soon, and I hope it sends more of "our" type of people here. We BOLD atheists need a place to hang out and discuss things. I wish you luck trying to herd cats.
