As a fellow psychologist I am delighted to hear that you have written a book about the hooking techniques used by religion. I will try to get hold of a copy.
Have you read William Sargent's "Battle for the Mind"? It covers similar material. It was on the Australian Year 12 compulsary reading list for English Expression in 1965 when I was completing that level (equivalent to US Junior College).
Darrel: Thanks for the heads up on your book. I will surely order a copy right away because a) it sounds interesting and b) I like to support one of 'our own'.
I am very much trying not to become militant regarding belief and it's impacts and intrusions on our life. What keeps me on an even keel when investigating belief and dealing with religion in the deep South is to continue to read and learn about the root causes and the mechanics of it.
As a side note, I'm impressed that you have emerged from a fundamentalist upbringing to become an atheist, a speaker, and an author. Cheers!
Thanks for the info Darrel -- I'm going to buy it from the site you provided. It looks like a great read! Free shipping -- that's great. (Sorry I put two "Ls" in your name the first time -- I'm normally a little more careful!)
Update... Amazon is temporarily out of stock of your book, but I'll keep checking.
It's getting great Amazon reviews so far... only one sour grape so far -- and if I had to guess, I'd say they most likely didn't read it. (Probably just an xian who doesn't like your subject matter.)
That's terrific news. What a story. What a book. You are an escapologist.

I'll definitely check out your book -- the title sounds very interesting and I love to read.
