hi PEÄ - [pronounced pay'-ah - writing out your whole handle looked silly to me and just pea as in the veg was ridiculous, so i made this up instead :]
i really don't understand the link between felines and the hyena. how did they figure this out? with or without DNA? through fossil data? bone structure? it's not apparent. . . and it does not say anything in the wikipedia article, which i'd already read. i can't find anything on-line - maybe not using the right search words. is there any way to find out? thanks so much - you are a font of knowledge :]
somewhere you wrote that hyenas are more related to felines than canines. can you let me know where this info is? it doesn't make sense to me at all. thanks - alexa :]
Yeah it's a shame that we live in FT HOOD, TX(US ARMY) and that my wife can't attend a good university that is secular, the only option she has is a junior college. The only two schools around here is UMHB and Baylor and they both are religious affiliated, so she is force to choose a degree she somewhat like at the Junior college(Temple College). What university are you in?
Hey thanks for the add and the pic comment and thanks for checking my page up. Yeah moved to Texas last year and it has been a new experience for me. I used to live in Oregon were Atheist is not a abomination lol, here in TX i say i am a Atheist and they get a puzzle look in there face lol. Well take care now.
Great response! Yeah you answered my question very well, better than I had expected. But I had thought pigs and elephants were so closely related! Just looking at them, an elephant looks like a giant pig with a longer nose, and that's about it. They both have the same kind of snoutish end to their noses, they both need to bathe in mud because they don't sweat, they both have tusks, and from what I heard elephants also have two kinds of meat. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I can definitely see camels, giraffes, deer, cattle, and goats all being very closely related (horses in there too?), but pigs don't quite seem to fit the mold. But anyway, I guess I had heard wrong, so thanks for the clarification. And glad to meet you!
I came up with several questions, but they were mostly snarky, loaded questions about his dealings with Creationists. I figured I'd let the people with the real questions get theirs in.
Well, and I was kind of hoping for a Creationist to get in the question line, but I guess that's too much to hope for. Despite being in North Carolina, the Triangle is a very liberal, well-educated area. I'm sure we've got plenty of Creationists floating about, but they're not the organized, agenda-pushing sort that I'm sure you have in abundance, in Texas.
Yeah, I can see some of that from the photos. Dawkins in there, too. I got to meet him when he came to Duke for his latest round of book tours for The Greatest Show on Earth.
I need to get around a bit more. I've been out of state plenty of times, recently, but never doing anything that I actually wanted to do.
I first saw 'University of North Texas', and I thought Amarillo or Lubbock. I was going to say something along the lines of, "You poor, poor girl," before I got that sorted out.

I didn't think what you were saying was that hard to understand, but apparently it was for some ;)
