Hi Terry, Thanks for the welcome! As to origins, since retiring, I've taken up an interest in the origin of the nearly universal human belief in invisible, intelligent agents. This seems to be one of a few things, like complex languages, that sharply distinguishes us from other apes. Of course. these peculiar beliefs also underlie most religions. Maybe you folks have a related discussion group. Charlie
I appreciate your greeting. My response is late but better than never which is exactly when god will bring me back from death. I think that finding a way to thwart or bypass death would be at least one of the most important things that could ever happen next to keeping archives of history and knowledge intact even after the universe itself had faded into oblivion. I hope to learn whatever I can and somehow contribute along these lines if it would or could ever be possible. I have hope and silly ideas that keep me entertained. Perhaps a part of the answer lies in being able to merge consciousness with inorganic matter. You're welcome to message me, I've spoken extensively with "different" sorts of theists but I'm fairly new at not believing in theism and conversing with others who do not believe either.
Hello Dr Meaden and thank you for welcoming me into this quite diverse group. I have already visited The Godless Gardener and have much in common with many there. I see I am in good academia company and this is very helpful for my inquisitive nature. I was never afforded a formal secondary education, but that has not hindered my hunger for answers.
