Thanx, Terry. This is the first time I've connected with like-minded people so I'll probably be a little slow to get started. Where I've lived in Md., Fl, Va, NC & now, SC, finding real people who have the same convictions as I do is almost impossible. Here in Myrtle Beach, folks have no qualms about asking you, outright, "are you a Christian?" I usually answer "I have my own belief system" and let it go at that. Otherwise, in their eyes, you're the devil incarnate & should be shunned. I'm hoping there are others in the MB, SC area that I can connect with in time. In the meantime, thanx, again.
Thanks Terry! I will explore the many groups this weekend. One thing I am trying to find and have not found thus far, is a group for atheist parents. My daughter can't seem to figure out why so many of the kids at her new school are always talking about who's going to hell! :) Maybe I will find a group like that here. Thanks for the info!
Thanks! I'm excited about being on the site!! I'm looking for a community of people that share the idea that you can be good and ethical without any kind of god. I just can't stand the holier-than-thou church people that constantly say everything is in god's plan. My mom has been sick and suffering for the past 20 years....how exactly is *that* a good plan??? I love to hear them try to rationalize it.
Ok, off my soapbox, haha. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to many good discussions!
Thanks all for the greetings. While I don't have much time for blogging, I'll try to participate as much as possible. I'm a very big believer in the idea of promoting a more intelligent society, one based on rational thought and skepticism.
