Sometimes, it isn't easy. Fortunately Eugene, OR is only about an hour north of here. Usually, areas around a major university are more liberal and secular.
Don't I know it - I've had knee surgery twice (both on my left knee) for the same things - torn cartilage and a broken kneecap, plus a torn tendon the second time, in 1972 and in 2001. I'm feeling it right now, but I'm used to it.
I'm doing OK for the most part, other than some ankle and knee problems I've been having. Guess the colder weather's brought out some stiffness and what not. Hope you have a great week. =)
the moths only live for 24 hours...... they live in their cocoons for approx. 8-9 months..... after they hatch, they mate then die.... they don't eat; they don't have mouths..... gwaithmir knows soooo much more than i do about them!...... don't you just love the fall??

Welcome aboard! =) Hope you're doing well today...
I am glad you like my Archaeopteryx. It represents two things for me. Of course, it represents evolution being an ancestor of present day birds and it represents one of my hobbies--bird watching. I have always appreciated the fact that birds are much, much older than man. It should make us feel humble but then the "Earth was created for man alone," you know.
hi liz, thanks for the friend request; hope to see you in chat more often :) ...... btw, that's a moth; i always forget what kind. gwaithmir sends me the cocoons in the winter and they hatch in the spring. that one you saw i was letting go. they are very big and beautiful!

The weather may not be threatening here, but I live in a red part of a blue state. Sometimes people are more threatening than mother nature.

Oops, sorry. I didn't notice you had already joined Crafty Atheists. Based on your icon, perhaps Godless in the Garden would be of interest.
Welcome, Liz! Glad you could join us. :D
Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. You might also like Crafty Atheists, Young Atheist Women, Women Atheists, Female Atheists, and possibly Feminist Atheists.
I also recommend Eco-Logical and Climate Concerns, since New Jersey's climate is changing.

Welcome, Liz. I think it is a very human trait to have a need for self expression and what better way than in the arts and crafts.
Greetings! Welcome to the site!
