You're probably right about us all being nerds here. Although, I tend to think of myself more as a geek, but the point remains valid. I'm not specifically trying to persuade nontheists of my views. I actually spend most of the time offline trying to persuade the "spiritual but not religious" crowd. They're usually my target market and I slowly dissuade them from supernaturalism of the various types. Although, I guess they too are a little turned off by the word religion. They generally agree that it is the level of organization, the form if you will, and not the content that defines religion.
As I say this, I realize that you might be right after all. I guess I am trying to persuade people generally that have been turned off by religion, because those that are happy with religion or seldom in the market for a new one, even a nonsupernaturalist one.
Ah, thanks for the correction. :) It was my assumption that atheists tend to be more skeptical.....or at least the ones who seek out other atheists to have discussions with.
The friend I was referring to in my story is actually atheistic towards the Christian god but still believes in the existence of souls and ghosts...I find that most people on these atheist websites are skeptical towards those types of things as well.
When I tell some people that I'm a skeptic, they assume that I mean "conspiracy theorist". Hahahaha.
Thank you for joining CONSUMER ETHICS. I look forward to your contributions.
Please consider joining my new group HERCULANEUM: A PLACE FOR MEN. Herculaneum is a group where men can discuss and explore the ideas, goals, demands, ethics, sexuality, and nature of manhood and masculinity. It is a place where we are free to be ourselves, and discuss the issues most important to our identities as men.
I have already started two discussions to get us going: How do we define manhood in the 21st century? and Rites of Passage: A Lost Ritual?.
This is a private group, and discussions can be viewed by members only. Membership is open to males only. Please check it out.

I think I'm going to go cry... alone... in the bath... and listen to Mizerable... while I fondle my Gackt puppet... inappropriately...

Thanks for the insight.
