A big welcome to this world of rationality, truth and peace, where common sense and science lead to freethinking wisdom --- as you know in being a non believer and freethinker like us.
We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with 700 discussion topics and 3500 members.
Yeah, there are atheists everywhere, but finding them ...
So much work, in places like that.
Heh, dunno about not beating country life, though. I'm originally from the suburbs of Chicago, so Raleigh is a little on the small side, for my tastes. I don't think I could cope with living in a town smaller than 100,000 people or so. I dunno, I guess I view it more as the people making up the place.
The people in urban areas are more educated, more liberal, and more interesting, on average (I'm only speaking about averages here), and it's easier to get a group of similar people together, when you've got a couple hundred people within a 15 mile radius.
Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. After you've searched for topics of interest in "Groups" above and in the "Forums", don't forget to look at recent activity which hides along the right margin of the page all the way at the bottom.
Wow, that's RURAL Tennessee, too. Where the heck do you go to find sane people to talk to? Are you planning on relocating somewhere sane, eventually? I can't imagine staying somewhere like that.
Welcome, Martina. I, too, live in the south so know what you mean by the constant bombardment of religiosity. You will definitely meet like thinking people here. Also, thank you for your contribution to the care of homeless animals.
