Thanks for the sweet comment. I believe we learn from other people. I'm here with a very open mind and when I find the time I will be here as much as possible. Thanks to everyone for making this experience enjoyable! Much love!
i have a lot of religious relatives, especially in-laws. Many of these people have never met or talked to an agnostic/naturalist/atheist and they just assume that religiosity is the default position for all of society. Around Christmas time all the church talk really gets on my nerves. But i keep quiet in order to avoid friction and bad feelings.
Many religious people have never debated the issues or done any analysis. Its just blind faith from age 6 onwards.
Thank you so much, Melinda, for being just who you are. I am very happy to add you as my friend. I know how things go sometimes, so if you ever need to let go, I have a sympathetic computer you can rant to. LOL! Seriously, thank you very much. Be well, my friend.
Thanks for your friendship, Melinda. I haven't met many people that grew up in a non-religious home, so I'm always fascinated to hear their views on religion. You just commented earlier today that your kids have many atheist friends. Wow!! That is great to hear. They are our future. --Carl
RE: "gist" not "jist" in your Stupider discussion. Any time you discovered, after posting a discussion, that you'd made a spelling error or posted a bad link, you can go back and edit it. Look in the "options" button at the top right of that discussion for "edit discussion". Once you change the discussion itself, you can delete your comment about the error, using the x in the upper right corner of it.
In order to insert an image in a comment, click on the second icon along the top of the window, just after "link", that looks like a rectangle. The window that opens will allow you to browse to an image on your computer. Or you can click the tab "From a URL". To get the URL of an image you can right click on that image and choose "copy image location". Then paste that into the "From a URL" window. You can experiment in the Sandbox group. That's designed to practice and experiment, then you can delete your practice stuff.
I hit the 'reply' wall on that a link from Failblog in replies to 'you' LOL. I guess I could have replied to the main thread but then it wouldn't have made sense to anyone else reading it! Of course I often wonder if I still make any sense at all!

I used to have an all black cat -- looks almost just like the black kitty in your photo. In fact my late kitty made that same face -- licking his mouth. It reminded me of him when I saw the picture -- just adorable.
