Well, it's 8 pm here. But, yeah, I probably got started a little early. I figure it's just a societal norm; why not break a norm or two every once in a while, eh?
Well... drink... Haha. Not normally, by my daughter is gone for the summer. I'm about to leave for the e-club. But mostly I just sit around my house and do the same sorts of things as everyone else.
UMUC, or University of Maryland University College, isn't actually located in Maryland. It's a college that is on pretty much every military base overseas.
That's what I'm hoping. Plus they just approved this huge, new GI Bill that 100% covers college AND housing. We'd both have to work to be able to eat, but I think it's doable.
Hey! I'm doing well. I found this site and figured I'd check it out.
I'm not really sure the origins of my name... I had a great-grandma named Aline, and I think my mom heard the name Alina somewhere and liked it, so that's what she used.
I was almost a Josephine, I think I prefer Alina to that any day. XD
I always stay up way too late. :P. It's only midnight here, meaning I'll probably be up another three hours... most likely reading, drawing, or I could still be on the computer. :)
Haha, it's only recently by choice. XD. I have sleeping problems, and used to be on sleeping pills, but I forgot to take them too much.
I read tons of different stuff, mostly fiction, though. My favorite author is Stephen King, though I also like John Grisham. Lately I've had a historical fiction kick, so right now I'm reading a book on five different granddaughters of Queen Victoria and what happened to them.
Do you read a lot? If so, do you have any good recommendations? I'll read basically anything, especially if it's interesting. :P
I'll have to check that out next time I go to the library. :)
Wow I sound like such a nerd....
anyway, historical stuff is obviously one of my things, I do like philosophy (though I haven't read much of it, and mainly only political philosophy). I haven't really read any athiest stuff...
Hi Viktor...I just got a message through TAG which I just joined last week, this is a nice place to hang out for a bit of intelligent conversation...see you around.

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…
