He has taught me more, with his books and incredible seminars, about what a board of directors should do--and maybe more important, what it should not do--than a host of other "authorities" could begin to do. Anyone who cares about the governance of organizations (and that ought to include pretty much everyone) should learn about the Carter Governance Model. His modeling and theorizing is not just interesting, it is crucial to practical and effective functioning.
