Thanks. I actually had a long reply - then looked at your webpage and lost it somehow. It is late at night so --- I ain't typing all that stuff over again.
Noticed you are a retired teacher. I am also a teacher and will be going on a sabbatical next September for a year. Maybe that will give me more free time to interact with this network. As you noted - i have not being paying much attention to it after joining. But it is a comfort to know I belong to a group who is not "under the influence" of religion.
PS: maybe I just hang out with drag queens too often. They use "bitch" like "girl" in every other sentence! :) Possibly this has simply desensitized me.
Hello Ruth. Yes, most threads tend to fade after about the 3rd or 4th reply, but I'm not bitter about it - well, not too bitter anyway:) On the upside, while most conversations peter out quickly, that means that only a dedicated few will continue, so spotting potential friends is easy. I guess that part of the delight of friendship includes a benign sort of exclusivity.
Thank you Ruth., thanks for your kindness .. I'm taking time to relate to this.. it is incredible that I was hoping for a social site like this and suddenly discovered a link invitation for this one... peace..
Hi Ruth, thanks for your comment. I get where you're coming from but have some additional points for your consideration of the B word: 1) like has been done in the gay right movement, does itnot empower us to hijack and own these words? i also identify as queer and don't feel that is demeaning either, 2) considering how much i adore dogs and often consider them superior companions, i choose to consider it a compliment. i cannot control others, i can only control my reaction to them, and last but not least, 3) i don't really think i'm a bitch, it's just a play on words :)
I actually feel good and am a very positive person. My "dark side" miniatures stem originally from my chaotic life style and that I just hate seeing pretty, clean, sterile scenes. I am currently working on a building from Sweeney Todd! Loved the story, the film and the gore! lol Also have other things I am working on but nothing currently is finished. Don't worry, when I have the current work finished I will definitely be happy to share photos.
Thanks for the group invite! I've joined it now, though I should say I almost never visit Atheist Nexus these days so don't expect too much activity from me... :)
Hey Ruth! Thanks for the invite! Even in December I was not faithfully logging in. It's been awhile. The icon, however, is still on the tool bar, so to speak, so I'll join in. I've been on Facebook a lot just because it's the only way I can keep up with a few people from "the past". The problem with Facebook, though, is that one always ends up with 'friends' who make me rile up stuff! I've offended enough them; maybe it's time to chat with some people who actually feel the way I do. Good timing, too, actually, because I'm in the middle of a body of work (oil on canvas) called "Leviticus", which is a bit awkward when loved ones (decidedly misguided loved ones) ask me what I'm working on. So, as I finish each one, I'll post them - maybe that will start some conversations... In the meantime, I'll try to figure out how to post a few of my last body of work (Duets). Take a look and see what you think. Again, thanks for the invite!
Well thank you very much. I have to say, I joined just so I could read or comment on a particular article but the group has been most welcoming. I can't think of another group I have joined that has greeted me with so many warm welcomes. :-)
Well......being that I just joined the group, less than a month ago, I don't know what you mean by "it's been about 2 months and I don't see many new friends." Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm fine with my # of "friends."
Thanks for the salutation. I'm somewhat new to online social media sites and am still learning my way around. I just haven't had a chance to really explore AtheistNexus until now.
Glad to hear from you. I really ought to contribute more, but I've been soooo busy at work and with my kids, getting ready for the end of the school year, my hubby's b-day, my son's birthday, you know the drill. :) I hope to be on line and chatting with you all soon!
