Hi, thank you for the birthday wish. Yes, I love having my birthday on the 1st day of Spring, my favorite time of the year. I did not know about the date being the beginning of the Persian calendar, that is cool.

being raised a muslim just like you , i could say i know what you are talking about ,except for that i was sunni and not shia like in iran
i do know about the disgrace of the muslim societies , beeing a fireman for 8 years made make sure that religious poeple dont "look" at what you do for the society but what you believe in, even if this belief is just a delusion.

Cheers! I did know today that today is the first day of spring but, I had no idea that it is the beginning of the Persian calendar. When I lived in London, I had a few Persian friends and they never mentioned it. :-)

Just checking on my Atheist Nexus friends. How are you? A lot of people here have been sick due to winter viruses. I'm just getting better. I spent more time looking at Atheist Nexus because I took off from work due to illness.

I'm curious about what the teach in Iranian schools about the pre-Muslim history of Persia. I read here that Persia is one of the oldest continuous civilizations, going back more than 7,000 years. I would love to see the ancient objects and places. I doubt that there will be a chance of that, however!

I was thinking about the argument that you posted, with someone who was asserting that secularism was the source of evil. I don't think that it is possible to argue with people like that - it's probably better to avoid them. Of course, you would know best.
