Greetings, Debbie! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since Oct. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.
Nice to meet you. I'm jealous. I wish I could live in Ireland. I grew up in Germany and moved to Utah about 10 years ago. There are not too many Mormons in Europe.
Hello, greetings from Salt Lake. So you live in Dublin and you are an Ex-Mormon? Did you ever live in the United States or were you raised Mormon in Ireland?
Hi Debbie could you sign my petition for a secular education system as I am trying to get it off the ground. If you could join the group on facebook and spread the word http://www.secularpetition.com. The facebook group is Petition for a secular irish education system. Thanks for your help
Thanks for your experience sharing! I just met learnt a few new words while reading your comment. Then I found you typed two words wrong, "subserviant" and "extracate". :)
The right spellings should be "extricate", and "subservient". Now you know what type of person I am. :)
Ha ha! I got my profile picture from googling Chinese word "phoenix town", a literally translation. I also think it's cool! Perhaps one day you would visit this old Chinese town. :)
I was born and grew up as an atheist. I was converted to Mormon at mid-twenties after I came to U.S. After I had practiced Mormonism for a few years, I finally left church and then was back to my atheism background where I should be.
As far as I know, there are no LDS activities in mainland China except Hong Kong SAR and Shenzhen, a big city adjacent to Hong Kong. Maybe LDS activities in Shenzhen are secretly conducted. I am not sure. But my classmates who are working in Shenzhen have never heard of Mormon, neither do most young Chinese.
Similarly, I found the term "Ex-Mormon" from Google just yesterday. Also, I like this word very much. I feel it is something I belong to. I hope I can make friends with Exmos and share some thoughts and experience. I will write something about my experience on my introduction board.
Hi Debbie,
I actually spent most of my life in Cork (got out before the blasphemy law tho...is this site illegal in Ireland then? what a ridiculous law).
I'm plugging my 'give something back' pamphlet at the moment - a retort to religious/cult door-to-door recruiters. If they invade my privacy, I might as well try to convert them (or at least annoy them): http://atheistprinciples.tripod.com
Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers, S
Here's a friendly 'Hello' to Debbie Morris from Dublin
We are pleased to welcome you here among the sensible, rational people of this world.
This is a fantastic meeting place with its 14,400 bright people like you who recognise religion for the superstition and brainwashing fraud that it is---
and that God and gods are fictions like viral parasites in people's heads.

Indeed it is silly...but that's why people need to speak out against it. Simply preaching one religion is blasphemy against any other religion...how ironic...
OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…
No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it. The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs. I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance. The letter was a mockery of atheism. Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
for once you and I can agree on something. We should disrespect beliefs that are untenable such as the belief that there is no God. Indeed for me to respect you Jason, I cannot respect your belief in non-belief in atheism. Your atheism comes across as arrogrance, smugness, and self righteous. Indeed after reading "An Open Letter to My Religious Friends" I penned one…
