You actually lived through the depression years! I've learned many things on how NOT to act from my father, but lessons on money isn't one of them. (if that makes sense)
I noticed in the one post you had made that you "were back - at least for a bit". Does this mean that you've taken your atheism elsewhere? Haha kidding aside, nice to see you posting again - please do stick around!
Thanks for the friending, Tom - I appreciate the encouragement on the post. I highly recommend viewing the Rockies at some point in everyone's life, particularly if you can dedicate a few days time, and do so leisurely. What a view.
It's about which pays off for people, making (such as planting or throwing a pot) or taking (such as taking another person's cropsor pots) by force. Once weapons technology became so efficient, with metal blades, those who were physically stronger (men) and willing to dominate by force were reinforced. The flip side of the technology/human culture coevolution is that Dominator culture is now destroying the planet permanently. We're taking and taking from nature, without regard to natural limits. So Partnership Culture is likely to be the only kind of culture which supports long term sustainability on Earth. Taking was a short range optimum but it's not a long range optimum for a species utilizing all of a planet's resources. My impression is that you're focused on blame rather than stepping back to see how humanity has been molded by technology.
The UU church you visited was most likely First UU of Austin on Grover Ave. -- I've visited there myself. It is a very nice church. The majority of UU's are Humanists. So I fit in very well. I like the UU principals.
The nudist camp you are speaking of is Hippy Hollow. I never been there -- but I have heard of it. I think the lake you went canoeing on is Town Lake -- they just renamed it Lady Bird Lake.

Yeah Tom, I admit to laughing at Foxworthy's spot on humor. I could learn from that way of "attacking" the other side.
Hello Tom,
What a pleasant surprise! Glad to be your friend.
Tom, I am very glad to see you in this group.
Fishwrap! Good one. I felt obligated to take the newspaper and "be informed". No more. And oh what a relief it is!
Thanks for the friending. I will make every attempt to keep my posts friendly yet uncompromising. You've provided good mental exercise.
From one geezer to another, and to all:
Happy Chinese New Year
