YouTube video posted by Sam Harris: Listen to this idiot!

The "clash of civilzations" is often denied by Islamic apologists. It is, in fact, for real.

Here's the FaceBook intro from Ayaan Hirsi Ali:

Hat tip to my friend Sam Harris for posting this video - "British Islamist Anjem Choudary: Freedom and Democracy Are Idols That Must Be Destroyed and Replaced with Obedience to Allah." In my upcoming book Nomad - release date May 18th in the U.S. - I discuss how the power of Dawa – in English, that is the power of per...suasion – will decide the Clash of Civilizations. I argue that the Western world – specifically, Christians, feminists, and atheists – must use their power of Dawa to combat political Islam.

Muhammad's life provides plenty of examples of pragmatic ethics. He had no problem reneging on agreements if it furthered his goals. He even advocated misrepresentation when it's strategically valuable. What the hell, let's face it, he raided caravans and villages for their booty. Good, modern, examples of such a Muslim mindset can be found in Ayatollah Khomeini, Saddam Hussein and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The value of their word means nothing when dealing with the infidel. Deceit, false promises, delaying tactics, extortion . . . whatever it takes.

I'm not sure to what extent sworn Muslims might be called moderate. What I do know is that Islam hasn't enjoyed the reforms that Judaism and Christianity have. The Quran is pretty much reform-proof: it leaves no wiggle-room for non-fundamentalist interpretations.

With Jihad interwoven into Islam and with the unscrupulous ethics of Muhammad, Muslims are unrestrained in pursing any strategy that spreads Islam further out into the world.

Muslims have a whole different notion of ethics in many regards. Deception, for instance, was fine with Muhammad . . . if you do it for Allah, of course.

You just gotta love the "idols" - democracy and freedom of speech. Here's Andy.

Now I'm not sure if Anjem was always a Muslim or not. But, by his own admission, he had a period when he was not a practicing Muslim. Here's a paragraph, from Wikipedia, about his personal life:

According to a report published in 2006, student friends say he called himself "Andy", drank alcohol, indulged in casual sex, smoked cannabis and even took LSD. A friend was also reported as saying that he expressed anger at the publication of The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. In March 2009 the Daily Mail published photographs of Choudary as a student, which appear to show him drinking, posing with a pornographic magazine, and smoking cannabis. Choudary himself says claims about alcohol and drug use are "all fabricated", although in an interview with The Independent newspaper published later in 2009 he acknowledged "yeah, obviously, I had a period where I was not practising ... I have no shame at all in saying that I didn't always use to be like this. And I have great thanks to Allah that he guided me."

Apparently, Anjem was named Andy before he became a Muslim AND he was an idiot then too. I'm off now to research this guy.

I see the woman interviewing him, sitting there with her head wrapped up in a scarf and being very patient with him...you know she just wants to jump out of her chair and scream, "You are an IDIOT!"

"Freedom and Democracy Are Idols That Must Be Destroyed and Replaced with Obedience to Allah."

Hmmm, "democracy destroyed?" Sounds like sedition to me. Has someone bothered to inform this jerk that he gets to blather his crap at all because freedom of speech, a concept which apparently is foreign to islam, is in common practice in western democracies such as the one he lives in.

I can't speak for the UK, but were he seriously to attempt such a thing in the US, he'd find himself centered in a number of crosshairs in very short order. The shame is that Pat Robertson and his ilk want the christian equivalent in this country and only a few recognize it.

Thanks for your replies, guys,

I like our way of life, here in the West: freedom, human rights, individuality and the rule of man-made law (as if sharia law is somehow not man-made).

What worries me is that several European countries have bent over backwards and granted special concessions to accommodate Islam without first coming to grips with Jihad (in all its forms) and the Muslim mindset. Thankfully, there appears to be a public backlash against those policies and the citizenry are waking up to the fact that, when it comes to policies of inclusion, pluralism is preferable to multiculturalism. If they could make such myopic mistakes could we, in our liberal desire for inclusion, make similar mistakes?

We can't outlaw Islam or Muslims so we have little choice but to include them . . . but we need to include them without giving them special status or privileges. Traditional American pluralism will work just dandy; it's why we're a melting pot of a nation. The European multicultural experiment has failed. I hope we learn from them.

Also . . .

. . . we need to fortify the separation of church and state. It's not currently strong enough to secure us from religious meddling. Faith-based initiatives, for example, should be illegal and churches should be taxed. This will help immunize us from making some of the multicultural mistakes made in Europe.
