Reasons to eliminate religion.

Sorry, but I have to vent for a minute, OK; for hundreds of years indigenous people and their culture have seen extreme brutality from Muslim and Allah, Jews/Christians and God/Jesus. In fact, for those of us who have read-up on history knows that the justifications for enslaving and brutalizing these people was that "they were not Christians or "saved" and we, the good God/Jesus loving colonialists, must convert these pagans to Christ."

Also, who, except Christians themselves, can forget the Salem witch hunts and trials in the United States between February 1692 and May 1693 where over 150 people were arrested and imprisoned. In fact, 19 of the accused, fourteen women and five men, were hanged.

Why do I bring this ugly, past history of Christianity up? The answer is quite fucking simple, these evil actions committed by people in their blind faiths isn't over. For instance, "A woman in rural Papua New Guinea was bound and gagged, tied to a log and set ablaze on a pile of tires this week, possibly because villagers suspected her of being a witch, police said Thursday."

Not only that, "Her death adds to a growing list of men and women who have been accused of sorcery and then tortured or killed in the South Pacific island nation," and many place in Africa where innocent children are been accused of the same, and eventually banish from their home or even killed by their Jesus loving parents.

"Early Tuesday morning, a group of people dragged the woman, believed to be in her late teens to early 20s, to a dumping ground outside the city of Mount Hagen. They stripped her naked, bound her hands and legs, stuffed a cloth in her mouth, tied her to a log and set her on fire," The report said.

In addition, the report claimed that "In a well-publicized case last year, a pregnant woman gave birth to a baby girl while struggling to free herself from a tree. Villagers had dragged the woman from her house and hung her from the tree, accusing her of sorcery after her neighbor suddenly died."

These evil monstrous actions are, without a doubt, done by people who suddenly "Find Jesus," and that's why we can not afford to stay silent or forget the past history of religion. I have many of my Christian "friends" said to me that "all these evil things done by Christianity were in the past." Oh, really, Just read the news, Jesus freaks.

These evils of religion are not just something of the past, but continues to plague us to this very day. Indeed, these evils were perpetrated after accepting the religious dogmas and these dogmas remain the foundation of these religions, and continues to affect the behavior of individual today.

First, let me say that I don't believe that the killing of person accused of being a witch have any thing to do with the local culture nor innate ignorance. If this is true, then, killing someone because he or she is accused of being a witch would have been a very old habit among Papua New Guinea's population.
However, the labeling of people as witches or witch doctors was done by the Abrahamic religions, especially Christianity, as they desperately tried to spread their faith among the population of “third world" countries. In fact, words like witches and pagan were use primarily to demonized the religious systems of these people which, most often, leads to the killing of the religions’ practitioners, and in most cases the killing is done by their own family who have just converted to anyone of the Abrahamic religion . For instance, take this story "Born into a family of four, Jeremiah experienced some slight form of princely treatment as the only male child of the home. But all that became history soon after one Prophetess Grace Ben Peter of the City of Grace Mission in Eket, Akwa Ibom State allegedly brandished him as child witch and the prime cause of unpleasant happenings in his family."

"Jeremiah's case is just one of many playing out in parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, where religious sects, especially of the Pentecostal fold, are accusing hordes of kids of possessing powers and being accused of misfortunes to their families."

Here is what happened to these innocent children in God's name.

"Unfortunately, the suspected 'witches' and 'wizards' are either abandoned by their parents/guardians, dehumanized, poisoned to death with a local berry, hurled into the river, buried alive, severely maltreated and thrown into the street or clandestinely killed."

It’s definitely a religious thing. However, you, Mephistopheles are right, the lack of good education and critical thinking may have also play a great role in allowing themselves to accept the dangerous belief and dogmas of their new found religion. Papua New Guinea, according to the 2002 census, shows that 96% of its population is members of a Christian church.

is christianity mainstream in papua new guinea??

i mean, i don't know...

but it might be a tribal shamanistic religion or something. if that's the case, there may be no dogma involved. dogma means "organized religion." i don't know enough about papua new guinea tho, so i'll leave it at that.

either way, nobody should be burned alive for anything. especially being "a witch."
