The bible is a collection of writings spanning - what? a thousand years?  It contains the thoughts, laws, some history - much of which is probably legend / inaccurate / made up for local political purposes at the time and place where written.  Saved and processed by generations who had their own agendas as well.  

Using the bible as a guide for any kind of laws or ethics, in the modern world, is evil.  It's not based on any kind of reality.

I agree.  I just found the article interesting in this time of rape politics and god talk.  It's all a bunch of hooey.

The bible has NEVER been about rights for women, and indeed, may be argued as a text utterly dedicated to privilege for men and the status of chattel or property for women.  As regards its statements regarding women, rape, property and so on, I treat the bible on these topics as I treat it on any other topic:

I ignore it.
