What is the religious purpose of life?

I'm writing something and I have to state what religion says about WHY were here.  How does God answer that? Why am I here?

So far I've put down: 1 to worship god. 2 to exert your free will and be judged by it.

It's been so long, I can't remember what the religious purpose of life is.  But I do remember all those stupid "Got Purpose?" signs everywhere.  Can someone enlighten me.

But on subject:

The truth of the matter is that a cow licked salty ice blocks. After one day of licking, she freed a man's hair from the ice. After two days, his head appeared. On the third day the whole man was there. His name was Buri, and he was tall, strong, and handsome.  He got a giant girl pregnant, and now we exist to fill the halls of Valhalla and Musphelheim.

  Simple.

Why make things so hard?

Atheist.  Well, we wouldn't have the term "black people" if we didn't have white people, would we?   "People" is all we would need.  We don't use "uncolored People"...OH the inconsistencies! :)    We are not colored by as much dogma as the theologians, and they are colored dumb with it.

Anywho, I prefer the term Heathen.  If the religious right hates Heathens, Commies, Fags, and the ACLU, then I wanna join up.

Carpists perform a service; we question careless thinking.

I have eight terms (agnostic, ..., secularist in alphabetic order) from which to choose.

I need to know how much assertiveness the situation will require.

I need to decide how much and what kind of conversation I will allow.

Minimum assertiveness and minimum conversation (i.e., none of your business): I'll say I'm non-religious.

In between, in alphabetic order: agnostic, atheist, freethinker, humanist, non-theist, secularist.

Maximum assertiveness and maximum conversation, even debate, I might say I'm anti-theist.

I'll say I'm a rationalist only when those I'm with acknowledge the primacy of emotion.

Glen, that is such good news! There are so many ideas we can discover to get us out of this fiscal mess we are in, and they are not going to come from the top. So, onward, great to teamed with you.

Joan I assure you I am opposed to violence and find myself agreeing with great majority of your ideas. I have come to aid of persons who were bullied, have never fought except in self defense and would never hit a woman.

Remember I am an anti-theist too because I have a visceral reaction to racism and sexism and war etc. Think we are playing for the same team.

Glen, I know you are a decent man and offer great information. As an ardent foe of violence, and being absolutely intolerant of any expression of it, I am glad you read my words and take me seriously. As any old timers to this link will tell you, I am not picking on you, I am responding to years of black eyes and bruises all over my body. If you are strong enough, you will be able to stand with me in this effort to end all forms of violence, especially among friends and family.

Joan, it was utterly in jest and a similar percentage bad taste I suppose. I guess my gaiety is filled with harmless mischief. But the "threat" was so outlandish did not see how it could be taken seriously.

Peace

I'm very interested in Orderism John. I would love to learn more. Thank you.

OK, I am ready for Orderism. Bring it on and let's see what it has to offer.

Glen, for goodness sake, what is aggravating you? There has nothing said here that would be cause for aggravation. As to your reference to violent action, I see no reason for you to respond that way. Even in jest, I don't want to read vitriol and will block anyone who writes it.
