What is Life Coaching?

What is a Life Coach, well, a coach works with clients in identifying and developing skills and capabilities that are within the person. This enables them to use these skills to the best of their ability to increase their individual independence thus reducing reliance. This can be directed toward specific areas/challenges or general life and development strategies.

The way Life Coaching is different from counseling, therapy or social work is that it is a future-focused practice. Unlike therapy, coaching does not focus on examining or diagnosing the past. It focuses on effecting change in a client's current and future behavior. The goal is to help a 'normal' person be a better person.

Life Coaching has its roots in management consulting and leadership training. It also draws from sociology, psychology, positive adult development, career counseling and mentoring. A coach is an equal to the client, allowing the client (who knows best about himself) to determine his direction.

I saw the need for this type of secular service. Our community is growing and we are not any different than anyone else we just need services geared to our mind set. My coaching is reason based and grounded in reality. SecularLifeCoach.com So what do you think?

Of course they are. I have had my carcass sold at $300/hour for consultancy while in IT. It is wholly corrupt. My managers were in endless "off site meetings" that were essentially brothel tours spanning the Pacific and Indian oceans, from Tahiti to Thailand. They all know what they are doing and they know exactly how wrong it is. "Life coaching" and "team building" is the same type of idiocy. Deborah sees a gravy train and is desperate to catch it before the real world, finally, does wake up and catch on.

Thisbe, you don't understand the "management consultancy" network. It is one of the conspiracies that is actually real - "consultancy" is just a big circle of folks that know each other and siphon money out of organisations for "training". Often for tax credits from government. It is almost masonic, and it's definitely cult like. Some social philosophers like John Ralston Saul go as far as quantifuing it as one of the greatest causes of economic inflation in modern times. A giant toilet into which hard cash is eternally being flushed for no real world return on anything.

One thing this planet does NOT need is more high powered go-getters that don't take no for an answer and want to lead another horde of "bright-sided' lemmings over a cliff. And this planet definitely does NOT need more mumbo-jumbo that claims to be different and "empowers" these imbeciles to go and play chicken with our social fabric.
