It makes the point that I was trying to make. Religious people pay to spread their message and most atheists aren't paying to spread our message and we should.

We don't swindle each other with an afterlife, but I think we need to be honest with ourselves and realize that we are trying to promote reason and marketing isn't cheap. There are many atheist websites, podcasts, radio shows, youtubers, and organizations out there that need funding. We all do our thing and usually at a lose. I really think we need to start supporting each other. Setting aside a little bit of money each month to help fund other atheist endeavors will really help out and spreading this idea will get other atheists to contribute to projects you may have or want to start in the future. We need to work together and that I think is really important.

Ir's a niche market. Hard to compete with a business that sells an afterlife and caters to a market that renders one to abandon reason and logic.

Nate, you noted the what I stated in the article about Atheist Nexus, but the point that I am trying to make is that I want to change that lack of motivation to support atheist projects. I am trying to encourage atheists to support each other. This isn't about me. I've been blogging for a long time and don't really make much money off of it. Usually the money I do make goes right back into the site or to other atheist endeavors by other atheists I want to support. I think atheists should want to support other atheist endeavors. If they don't, no big deal. But I think they should.

Yes, atheism is spreading without huge budgets. But what you don't realize is that there actually are people paying or the spread of atheism. The huge billboard and bus campaigns actually cost money. Atheist Nexus and other sites actually cost time and effort. The youtube videos that have gained a lot of attention also cost time and effort. Etc.

So my idea is that atheists who favor the spread of reason consider donating toward that cause. They obviously don't now.

If you read my response, I said that you ought to donate to atheist sites and endeavors you use. So if all you use is Atheist Nexus, donate the Atheist Nexus. Brother Richard and the volunteers work really hard on this site and they should be able to raise $5000 for a site upgrade. Also, I am not saying all atheists must donate 10%, I am saying it would be great if they did. I think we ought to donate to atheist endeavors. If you don't want to donate, don't. I can't promise you heaven nor am I threatening you with hell. I am saying that if you want a world filled with less religion and more reason, we all should help fund it. Money talks and bullshit walks, as they say.

If you don't want to fund the spread of reason, don't. But don't try to make this a guilt thing on my part because you don't want to spend money. Not guilt from me Nate. If you don't want to spend money to fund the spread of reason, don't no it. It's that simple. I hope you will donate to Atheist Nexus and any other atheist endeavor you enjoy. I hope others will too. That's it.

Nate, there is no guilt here. But all I am saying is if there is an atheist site, an atheist blog, an atheist radio show/podcast that you enjoy for free, you might want to consider supporting those efforts monetarily. Atheism is growing there is no doubt about that. The number one reason for that growth is the internet. Through the internet we are getting our message out. But most of us do it not only free, but at a lose. We spend a lot of time and effort spreading reason and I think if you enjoy the efforts of particular people and projects, you should support them with a little money.

I am not talking about charity groups here although that is certainly important. This is money for the spread of reason. I don't think we are going to get blogs that make millions of dollars like Churches, but I do think that people are working hard to spread reason and it doesn't come cheap.

If you don't feel like supporting other atheists, don't. No one will even know and no god is watching. But your contributions to atheist groups and endeavors will be very helpful and I know that it is usually very appreciated.
