Inspired by the poem 'A Pagan Girl in a Christian World', I write what could be subtitled 'An Atheist Girl in a Christian World'. How threatening is atheism to the Christian mentality?
They say
Hail
Hail to the Lord
They say
He will save us
Save our souls
From
From
From what?
They say
Destroy the
Sinners
Or forgive them
Destroy the
Pagans
Or convert them
They say
Satan is among us
They say
He is
One of us
They say he is
Real
They say
Jesus
Jesus Christ
Our Lord who art
In Heaven
Is real
They say
He will
He is
He is salvation
They say
I am evil
They say
I need salvation
They say I try
To turn Christians astray
So they say.
Then
Am I the devil.
I say
I am not.
They say
