In my last post, I wrote about "anticipation". Well, here, on the last day of the year, the promise of a great year lies ahead in 2013. I'm eager for it to begin!
For me personally, it all really starts in February when I escape to the Florida Panhandle for two weeks. This will be the third year out of four that I've rented a place a block from the beach (Mexico Beach, FL., actually). It's a good getaway from Indiana weather and winter routines. More on that later.
Sometime in the next several months, my new truck should be built and delivered. That'll be a great 70th birthday present to myself.
Then, of course, there's the warm summer months with lots of golf and gardening and hiking--all outdoor activities that I love.
And, while nothing is definite, my plans include going to Greece, island hopping, with a group from the Sierra Club. That'll be late Sept, early Oct. Again, more on that when the time comes.
Beyond me, my daughter, husband and 2 small kids will be making the big move to our family farm, hopefully in March. They operate a "sustainable farming" operation, selling their produce at farmers' markets, restaurants, and individuals (CSA). They're in the process of renovating an old farm house, building barns, erecting greenhouses, etc. They'll be 5 minutes away from me, not 45'. I hope to be able to help them out in any capacity, including harvesting. (www.Silverthorn-farms.com)
I'm sure there will be twists and turns and a few surprises along the way. But if everything goes accordingly, it should be a super year. Hope yours is equally grand!
