The Lie
As I am currently reading three other books (including one which is about real science), I'll take Ham's piece by piece over the coming months, and will post my thoughts as I finish each chapter. I'll then post an overall critique on the Goodreads website.
I'll be completely honest, and admit I do not expect to find this book to be anything other than complete and utter bollocks. But I will attempt to explain why I think it is complete and utter bollocks. And let's be fair, I'm in no doubt people like Ham would read ' The god delusion' in exactly this way.
I'm going in, I may be some time. Stay tuned.

People who have a belief in god as a basis of their being cannot comprehend where we're coming from. Whatever supports their belief they would see as proof; whatever conflicts with it must be falsehood. And living without god would be, to them, torture and therefore unthinkable. They could no more doubt god that we could doubt the existence of the earth.

Thanks, Loren. I can only take so much of this stuff at any one time. However, I have read Lewis' book and found it woefully unconvincing. Like other pro-god books, it makes its claims from the assumption that God exists.
