So, I had an embarrassing experience on the site here. I was trying to convey some work i did before the last bout of brain damage. I'm pretty sure my work is'nt wrong, only my ability to convery my work. Hell I'm guessing at my own notes. Yah I am too stupid to decipher my own notes at this point.

So, barring the myriads of tranlations I've done, the sriptures of the Bible should be enough to stand on their own for my proposal. My proposal is, that the God of the Bible is a volcano...well specifically magma. I propose that the ancients were volcano worshippers and simply forgot that along the line. The Bible holds creation stories. Nothing more.

After all the eggheads here ( I mean that as a compliment ) could'nt see even the similarities between the bible's description of God and a volcano...I really thought I was losing my mind. So, I wrote a letter to hte smartest person I know. She's a genius beyond what I ever was and has no brain damage.

The conversation went like this.
********************
Me : Hye. Did you get that invite I sent for experience project ?

Ok. I need to know if my brain is working correctly in a descriptive regard. It's a long story. I was on a message board with a bunch of PhD's and now I amreally wondering about either my brain capacity or thiers. Yah I know I have brain damage, but I need to confirm something with you before I believe I have lost it to this extent. Be honest.

I am going to describe something to you and you have to guess what it is.

A mountain with fire and brimstone coming out of the top of it. Thick black clouds of smoke, lightning all around the mountain. Lava burning up everything it touches as it seeps down the mountain.

What is the word for what I just described to you ?

Her Reply : Volcano, unless they've changed the meaning of the word or the way they are described now, and yes, I got your invite...haven't had much chance to check it out yet though.

Me : Ok...so both of us are smarter than umpteen PhD's. Good. I really thought I was losing my mind there. Now I am back to being terribly concerned about the state of professionals in our society LOL They really had me scared I was losing my mind completely.

Her reply : OK, now you've got me curious...what did THEY tell you it was, and where is this board? I do know that sometimes what the laymen's terms are for something is not really what the technical term is and there have been instances where certain terms have fallen out of favor for various reasons, but I can't imagine anyone not getting anything but "volcano" out of that description.

Me : Well I should tell you, I did'nt post it EXACTLY like I wrote it for you. It's an atheist forum. I was comparing the descriptions of God in the Bible to a volcano. It blew my mind when nobody could see the similarities.

Exodus 19:9

And the Lord said unto Moses "Low, I come unto thee in a thick cloud..."

*************

Exodus 19:16

and it came to pass on the third day in the morning,

that there were thunders and lightnings,

and a thick cloud upon the mount,

and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud:

so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

**************

Exodus 19:18

and mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke,

because the Lord descended upon it in fire;

and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace,

and the whole mount quaked greatly."

**************

19:22 and let the priests also, which come near to the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break forth upon them.
**************

Deuteronomy 4:10

Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God, in Horeb (Mt. Sinai) when the Lord said unto me, "Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. 4:11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. 4:12 And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
******************
Deuteronomy 9:3

Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee.

****************
Judges 5:4

Lord, when thou wentest out of Se’ir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. 5:5 The mountains melted from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord God of Isreal.
***************

2 Samuel 22:2 & Psalms 18

And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 22:4 I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. 22:5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid; 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; 22:7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: [B]and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. 22:8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth. 22:9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and the fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it. 22:10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet. 22:11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind. 22:12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. 22:13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled. 22:14 The Lord thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice. 22:15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them. 22:16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the Lord, and the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

her reply : Hahaha...sorry, but it's funny because I asked Bob what he got out of your original description and he thought it was a Biblical reference, and then we got into an argument because I couldn't figure out how the hell he came up with that out of what you described!! Now that I know the context it makes perfect sense, but I can see how a bunch of over-educated atheists might not see it. It's scary sometimes how Bob's simplemindedness sees things that no one else does...it's truly like being married to Forrest Gump. Maybe I can feed him some equations and he'll come up with an accepted Unified Field Theory...

**********

As I said, the descriptions alone tell me God is a volcano. Th etymology is simply icing on the cake. I also have some geological data and planetary physics data that would suggest the God of the Bible is a volcano as well. But if people can't even see it from the Bibles' descriptions of God alone... it would have useless posting the other things. I might perhaps post more here in the blog where I won't bother anyone.

But please...can't anyone see the resemblance of God to a volcano in these sctiptures ???? The bible is full of more of these in every book.

Exactly, God was not the volcano/mt. sinai, God is magma as stated in my above post. I am familiar with all of the cholars opinions on Sinai. I have most of it my files. Yes, it's mythology but interestingly accurate to geology when read correctly. The bible speaks of the creation of the first landmass and it's splitting into continents. As for the other "people" noted in the bible these are all geological manifestations as well. ( that and add ons to make the story more entertaining ) It was common for the ancient priests/shaman whatever to personify their creation myths. These myths began before writing devloped. When they were told in the oral tradition, in order to keep the people's attention the story tellers would personify the creation events so the people could remember them and keep the stories alive. Every few generations the tellers would alter the stories to fit current times and keep the people's attention. This carried through after writing developed for some time, what did not carry through was the general knowledge that the stories were representative of geological creation events. The characters became real as the true meaning of the stories faded.

As an atheist, I believe it is important to have some kind of viable argument against the bible that can be told in laymen's terms. You can throw all the science you want to at christianity and it does'nt phase them. Publishing something like this might tip the balance. Approaching it from a "proving the god of the bible exists" standpoint, might make a wave or two. Personally I am tired of fighting these idiots in my schools, my governement etc. Physics does not impress them. Perhaps a literal interpretation will. Not immediately, but it's something that can be seen clearly by people of any intelligence if it's pointed out to them. I want religion to end. It's caused enough tragedy's in man's history.

If you Google sinai+volcano, you get 149,000 hits. There's volumes of work by numerous scholars on this very subject. What little I read mentions Mt. Sinai was the "mountain of god" not god itself. There's also lots on the mountain not being in Sinai but in the Arabian peninsula and it was Constantine who dreamed it was in Sinai and made it so by decree, as if any of the Exodus happened at all. There's no evidence of Egyptians with Israelite slaves and as well as no evidence of up to 3,000,000 people wandering around for 40 years.

Personally, I think you can more out of interpreting McCarthy and Lennon than any useless myth in the bible.

Yes perhaps, but that is where my geological/planetary physics come in..unfortunately I am probably too dimwitted to pull off a description of those as well. I will say this much however,God actually being magama, one of scriptures I quoted said that God even flattened his own mountain, hence why nobody can find Mt. Sinai IMO. The mountains scholars have pegged as Mt. Sinai don't fit the description of a volcanic maountain that is clearly in the Bible. Note. Judges 5:4

Lord, when thou wentest out of Se’ir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. 5:5 The mountains melted from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord God of Isreal.

As I had said in my original post, the mountin itself is the house of God. God is magma/lava. He destroyed his own temple...which to nayone familiar with the Bible, that should ring a bell. The same stories are being told over and over throughout the bible. They are simply written by different authors. Creation stories all.

I want to say what God is...which in my opinion, is a volcano.

And a rather dormant volcano at that. :)

Thank you. I simply don't have the ability to describe the translations. I suppose I should have said interpretation work as I had largely based the translations on the work of Alvin Boyd Kuhn and back when my brain worked I had a lot of respect for his work. He never correlated the volcanic. He only noted the astrological componants of the bible. I got "volcanic" when I was reading his translations. I applied his etymological work to every snetence and word of the bible and it held up straight through. No more contradictions, timeline matched up to geological records. I don't Kuhn ever applied his work that stringintly. It made the bible make sense. I do think his astrological layer is correct but there is a whole other, first layer he missed and that went along with the teachings I had from Robert J Titus on the methods used by ancient story tellers. Had my brain not done a nose-dive, I might have been able to put together something in a book format that wouls have really po'd almost the whole of religion. Add to it the geological and planetary data/observations and the whole theory was a good solid theory. As it stands now, I may have to write it like a children's picture book. As a matter of fact, I am determined to do so.
A lot of people believe in this God of the Bible. Science can say what God is'nt, but they have never said what God is. I want to say what God is...which in my opinion, is a volcano.

This is very interesting. I still think your translation work is suspect on many levels, but you've highlighted something of a pattern here.

Very interesting. I certainly do not think you are losing your mind.
