The end of the world (This shit's real, y'all!)
I've been doing some research and found that the world actually is coming to an end! Holy bandwagon, Batman!
That's right...the planet Earth will possibly end in 4 to 7 1/2 billion years. We're gunna party like it's 19,000,000,99!
Assuming our dear home avoids being flung around like a pool ball in the collision between the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies, the leading thought is that the Earth will be sucked into our dying sun as it turns into a red giant. However, some scientists argue that our tenacious planet may yet survive even this. If there is even the slightest chance it can survive such cosmic destruction, I really don't think we have to worry about our planet's chances vis-a-vis a 2,000 year old dead Jew.

You're doing it wrong. You need to pick a date that's far enough in the future to have time to write a book, but near enough that people will feel the immediacy of the threat and feel the need to buy a book to explain it.
