From my Google atheism blog.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" [Jeremiah 17:9].
Fundamentalist Christians believe the Bible to be the inerrant and infallible word of God. But who wrote the Bible ? The short answer is men wrote the Bible. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost". [II Peter 1:21].
So this is the situation. Prophecy came through men, the Scriptures were written by men, but according to the Bible man's heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. So which is more probable, that a god should speak through a man, or that a man should lie and deceive and say a god spoke through him ? You do the math.

Well said, Anthony. This "deceitful heart" that is "desperately wicked" that the Bible talks about would have to be the innermost thinking process of a person, and therefore would refer to thought processes and the brain. If any of that was true, our knowledge of most things would just be totally wrong. It all implies that we have to be under God, and subjected to God, taking only his knowledge as truthful and absolute! How wonderful. That puts mankind right where the writers of the Bible wants, and it serves to continue the "God myth." This type of thinking explains why God needed so many piano players in churches that I used to belong to. Everyone was taking piano lessons. It also explains the gullible saying things like "God said it, I believe it, and that settles it." Such things are incredibly ignorant!

This brings me back to an old church song called "Bringing In The Sheaves." My step father always thought it was "Bringing In The Sheep." I'm not kidding. He really believed this.

What else can I say? Baah! Baaahh!
