And then there's Mel Brooks!
Comment by Reason Being on August 3, 2012 at 10:40am I had not seen that before....they most certainly would be better off with that set of rules!
Comment by Loren Miller on August 3, 2012 at 10:29am Thanks for that, Daniel! I did some Google-digging as well, but couldn't find the cartoon. Would be worth having, too.
Thanks for the pointer, Loren! If there's one person I love listening to more than Hitchens, it's Shel Silverstein! A quick google found Shel's #11-20 (it would be worth digging around more to find the full bit, but I'm short on time)...
11. Thou shalt not compromise.
12. Thou shalt not judge.
13. Thou shalt not seek rewards.
14. Thou shalt not follow leaders.
15. Remember every day, to keep it holy.
16. Honor thy children.
17. Thou shalt not destroy thy body before its time.
18. Mind thine own business.
19. Thou shalt not waste thy time.
20. Thou shalt not lay guilt upon the head of thy neighbor.

Comment by Reason Being on August 3, 2012 at 9:28am Thanks Daniel. You make a great point. Imagine how different our world would be if we all took that simple piece of advice!
Excellent as always! One extra point on "honor they mom & dad"... As Hitchens pointed out, if, instead, it were "Honor thy children", it would be so much better. Think how many of society's problems would be gone if we did away with child abuse, neglect, ...
