Hello!

I am relatively new here, and this is my first post. I'm a busy Mom and I don't usually take the time to blog about anything.

But I am annoyed.......again! I thought that if I survived another holiday season of listening to many of my Christian friends and family 'take sides in the war on christmas', that I could just go on with my life until the phony war rears up its ugly head again.

Now, I am more of a political junky, and my main concern is money in politics. It's the root cause of a lot of the problems that we have here in America. Affecting my general big 3 concerns; the environment, healthcare, and education. I care about freedom from religion, but it's not my main focus. Being in WI, the home of FFR, I have a lot of atheist friends who do seem to make this their main priority. And perhaps listening to them, and learning their arguments, has made me notice more annoying behavior from the Christians that surround me.

I'm, for now, going to skip over how they annoy me with there arguments against choice and homosexuality. This is related to a lack of concern for the environment, because, you know, god and stuff, blah, blah, blah. But there is a women I know, who is nice and we have polite debates on many topics. Overpopulater (6 kids), homeschooler, smug reposter of Christian blogs, don't worry, god will take care, or not, all part of the plan, more blah, blah, blah, you've all probably heard it. Well, she had started to do more gluten free and organic. And we share recipes, my son has behavior issues connected to certain chemicals in packaged foods. Well, today she posted a Christian blog that told her food was not god. That while it's nice to homecook meals and eat organic produce, it's really not necessary, insert anecdotal evidence about 90 year olds who drink coke everyday here. God will, or will not, give you disease, and will, or will not, heal you. All part of the plan, you know, no need to try to be better. Yuck!

I'm very live and let live. You're welcome to your religion, not my business, so don't try to make it so. Don't want to be insulted by my beliefs, don't ask me questions that make me tell you that god's not real. Now that I'm 'out', it seems that I have more praise Jesus' and god's from those surrounding me. I don't know if it's increased or just my annoyance. But I needed a vent. I'm glad that this space exists!

Nothing felt better than when I "came out" as an atheist. You know, FREE AT LAST! Hang in there. BTW, I'm a FFRF member down here in Indiana.

Da da dit godidit (goddy dit not god did it. Getting warmed up here LOL)

Ho see con didli eye ah

You think I'm talkin' bout the messiah

Found the words in obediahi

The language of the skyah

And to believe they still fool people with crap like this yet today. Different church groups want to claim 16 kinds of bullshit for what the words are actually saying so they can draw you into their group. Wanna know what the words actually are? It's crap! All made up crap!

Thanks Joan, I and Dan Barker have a few things in common.

Both studied the Bible, I did twice, in Christian boarding school and again under a Pentecostal pastor.  I can also speak in tongues, in fact I sometimes sing in tongues just for fun.  LOL.

A language it is definitely not, I proved that when our Pentecostal church had pastors with the gift of Interpretation, which was there downfall in my case. I exposed it as a ruse.

I also performed street preaching for the sect, and now feel sorry for deceiving all those people.

This guilt is likely led me to my anti-theistic attitude and position, righting the wrongs of my youth.

:-D~

So True TruthBtold: That is the reason Christians foam at the mouth when I get into a confrontation with them, I too studied theology, once in under a Theologian/priest and again under a Pentecostal pastor, then I decided to read the Bible like a novel from Genesis to Revelations and that confirmed my Atheism.  They hate people who know more about the Bible and can point out the rampant stupidity and contractions it exhibits.

You cant take a few uncomfortable/irritating run-ins with christians and feel the same way next time you find yourself in that same situation... pick up a book or two, listen to debates and most of all read the bible.. I promise you will be surprised when you can actually set them straight at the one book that they think they know.. I have been studying theology on my own for 4 years and been an atheist ever since I picked that bible up. AMEN AND PASS THE BISCUITS!!!

Hey Carol, sometimes I wish I could trade places with you, as I used to be surrounded by Christians here many years ago, but, now I'm surrounded by Atheists.

In many ways I miss the arguments and stirring them into submission.

That's why I have to stir them up on public websites, because I miss seeing them get aggro and start spitting when they talk.

Now all I get from them is a lot of &^&@# symbols in their replies, threats and profanities which they aren't supposed to be typing.

Though maybe, one day you'll miss them as well.

LOL! Have Fun!  :-D~

k.h. ky, I relate with what your wrote. I, too, was the object of too many attempts to convert me and when I got fed up I dished out some pretty harsh stuff, enough to make them emotionally tremble. I don't have much of that nonsense anymore.
I started with stories of Jesus that, when looked at critically, is not a very humane thing to do, i.e. "leave your parents, wife, and children and follow me. Is that the kind of leader you want to follow?"

or "You say god never tempts anyone. But the bible says that many were tempted by god.

or "Why would Jesus have us ask god to 'lead us not into temptation.'?

Which is it, god never tempts vs god tempts, and Jesus ask god not to tempt us?"

I can never remember the citations for these quotes, but I just tell the story and ask which one is correct.

Gastrich, Jason (2012-01-07). The Skeptic's Annotated Bible: Corrected and Explained (Kindle Locations 9590-9592). . Kindle Edition.

Gastrich is a born again apologist for the bible and does a very good job of pointing out the discrepancies. All you have to do is rebut his explanation. It is easy.

Or "why did god favor Abel's offering over Cain's. Wouldn't a loving father unconditionally accept the offering of his son?"

Or "why didn't god foretell Cain's slaughter of Abel and prevent it? If he is all powerful, why couldn't he set his own house in order?"

"God had to have a sacrificial lamb to atone for man's humans' sins. If god is so powerful, why did he need a sacrifice?"

Both these authors have material that is useful for this purpose available on the internet.
