So I called my grandmother this morning to catch up. It was very early in her time zone and she probably wasn't wearing her hearing aid. Add that to the Alzheimers and the conversation was pretty funny.

Giggy: What are you up to?
Me: I'm writing my book, and trying to get an agent and a publisher
Giggy: Ooh-wee! That sounds fun. Now you know my favorite publisher is Chosen Books. They're Christian.
Me: They're not gonna want my book - it's not a Christian book.
Giggy: Well, I don't know that they only do Christian books. I thought they just did good books.
Me: It's an atheist book.
Giggy: Well I'll pray that it goes well for you.
...a bit more talk about writing, publishing, agents, etc...
Giggy: Well this is so exciting. I'll pray for you. That's something old people can do. I've got to get to breakfast but I'll tell everyone else and have them pray for you that the whole process flows like water.
me: (stifling some serious giggles at this point) Thank you. I love you Gig. Bye.

Man oh man. She's gonna pray that the expose about her former-cult-leading that I'm writing goes well. How nice. This is also the first time I've dropped the "A" word, but she clearly missed it. I don't know why this amuses me so much, but it does.

hahahaha! Brilliant! Gotta love your gram.

I think it's time for a book of short stories written by Real Live Atheists and their Real Life Wacky Encounters with non-atheists.

Could be selective hearing. She might go around telling people that you're writing a theism book rather than an atheism book.

I'm sure God had a reason not to answer my prayers. haha Infallible logice!

Well if you only go with confirmation bias, prayer always works! Besides, don't christians love to say "God always answers the prayer - with either Yes, No, or Wait"

Haha, this is dandy. So if your book on atheism becomes published, someone can claim that prayer works, lol. What an enigma!
