Should we all go out and buy Pepsi in the new can?!? No, wait, it's Dr. Pepper, but in an old can!!!

I received this via email today:

> Subject: DON'T BUY PEPSI IN THE NEW
> CAN!
>
> Don't buy Pepsi in
> the new can. Pepsi
> has a new 'patriotic' can
> coming out with pictures
> of the Empire
> State Building , and the
> Pledge of Allegiance on
> them.

> However, Pepsi left out
> two little words
> on the pledge,
> 'Under God.'
>
> Pepsi said they
> didn't want to offend
> anyone. In that case, we don't
> want to offend anyone at
> the Pepsi corporate
> office, either!
> So if we don't buy
> any Pepsi products,
> they will not be offended
> when they don't
> receive our money that
> has the words
> 'In God We Trust'
> on it.

A little research on the Pepsi website led me to this link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/undergod.asp

So, unfortunately, it is a false alarm and our opportunity to support a company that left out "under God" is past. Just for the hell of it, I left a comment on the Dr. Pepper website complimenting their patriotic can design of 2001 and offering my support. I hope they get a chuckle out of it.

Gonna buy me a case of Dr. Pepper too! :-)

*Finishes drinking the Dr. Pepper sitting in front of me*

Thanks for the heads up! I get crap like this in my email all the time. I'm sure it won't be long before this message invades my inbox. I don't mind it though, I take a lot of pleasure in pointing out the fallacies in chain emails and hitting the "reply all" button. LOL
