Religion---it gave us stained glass, cathedrals, hymns, indoor candles, lots of gold objects to covet, the somber mutterings of Latin to awe us with our own ignorance, thick tapestries to keep Tudor houses warm, a historical record of naked people, The Ten Commandments aka the coolest camp movie of all time, Christmas as we know it in the post-pagan world, Easter eggs, chalices, great excuses for refusing to commit crimes (Dad would kill me), strange dances, somber cemeteries with weathered stonework, gilt lettering, Shaker furniture, movies about Henry the Eighth, Amish attire, cross buns, Halloween, and all kinds of things I totally enjoy! Never let truth get in the way of savoring someone else's religion!

Don't leave out the ultimate pleasure - the fanciful wish of Eternal Life after Death! YEA!!! (Clap, clap, clap)

(PS - Amish attire? What's in your closet?)

Caution: This is a light-hearted entry, for those who are satirically challenged.
Thanks for comments.

Never let truth get in the way of savoring someone else's religion!

The truth matters, if people need to be sheltered from the truth, they need to rethink their position.

Religion---in more then 2000 years it gave us all kinds of crap that could not hold a candle to the results of one decade of scientific progress. Giving us great excuses for atrocities (genocide, infanticide, rape, torture, the inquisition, misogyny, racism, slavery, murder, human sacrifice) and some really crappy art.

Never let truth get in the way of savoring someone else's ignorance!
