We've been busy this year. Brother-in-law fell on his head in January and contracted brain damage..  So we went to the hospital (the rest of the family is dead or not interested) and kept contact with the staff, took decisions, shared information and did whatever was necessary. Then we went to his apartment and found that his cat was phobic about people, and the apartment was totally neglected, dirty and full of broken stuff. We found a cat-nanny who accepted the bizarre situation and tried to resocialize the cat. We reserved a day every week to sort and shift the stuff, to clean and to pack books and other necessities - it took us five months....  In the meantime b-i-l was training in a revalidation home, and it was clear that he could never again live on his own; but was he ever able to do that? Social work helped us to find a care home for brain damaged people: we made sure that they were well informed about his Asperger's and that his cat could live with him once more. So we bought new furniture, moved cat, pc and books to the care home, had the old apartment cleared and our patient was moved to his new apartment yesterday, much to his and his cat's satisfaction.

So now we have got two grown-up children: brother-in-law and demented aunt. We'll be there for visits, the administration and all the things thay cannot decide, buy or do for themselves. But I'm so glad that they both have the daily care and attention they need.

I'm sure it's a big relief to have such a large project behind you.  I'm also glad to hear that your b-i-l and his furry friend were able to stay together and that both were satisfied with their updated surroundings.

I'm glad you gave us a background of your b-i-l's situation. Not a pleasant scenario. Sounds like relief is at hand. Good luck with everything and everybody.

You can choose a name for me, Spud! It's just that I don't want to be found when people google my full name.

Do you prefer to be called Chris or Plinius now?  Like Mindy, I hope you can now enjoy life more.

I'm glad it is all sorted out, Chris! That was a long road for you guys, and a lot of work! I hope now that your life can be calmer, and you can enjoy more leisure time. ~ Mindy

Chris, you and your husband carry a heavy load. You seem to have paced yourself, even though the tasks were really hard. I hope you can get some rest and recuperate your own life again.
