Comment by David Anam on May 3, 2011 at 7:48am While I agree with your anger towards the "under God" change to the pledge of allegiance, I don't necessarily agree with you about Obama.
Whether we like it or not, "under God" is in the pledge of allegiance and he has a right to quote it, and he also has a right to say "God bless America" if he wants to. It is disappointing that he didn't give a shout out to atheists, but he has in the past. And that's more than most presidents can say.
The bottom line is that Christians have a major influence over politics and they have decided that they will stand against politicians who have anything to do with atheism. Until the attitude of the people changes, it's unlikely that we'll see a president stand up for us.
Everything always starts with the people.
Comment by Pansy on May 2, 2011 at 6:41pm WHERE is it written that if you don't like religion, you're somehow disqualified as a legitimate American?........ The word American does NOT mean "you must believe in god." Living in America has nothing to do with what you believe or don't believe, as far as religion is concerned.
And yes, it pisses me off when people pray before a sports game. What are they praying for? god's protection? if he's so wonderful, why would he ALLOW them to get hurt in the first place??!! god, xians are sooooooooooo f**king stupid!!!!
